Oct-6 Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Oct-6 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Oct-6, also known as SCIP or Tst-1, is a crucial transcription factor that plays a significant role in the development and differentiation of Schwann cells in the peripheral nervous system. Oct-6 (A-8) antibody targets a protein primarily expressed in late embryonic Schwann cells and continues to be present in nonmyelinating Schwann cells in adults. Oct-6 expression is particularly important during the myelination process, as anti-Oct-6 antibody (A-8) helps detect proteins essential for the timely differentiation of promyelin cells into myelinating cells, ensuring proper nerve function and signal transmission. Oct-6 (A-8) monoclonal antibody enables researchers to study how Oct-6 is involved in the downregulation of its own gene during myelination, a critical step for the maturation of Schwann cells. Notably, c-Myc can interact with the POU domain of Oct-6, leading to implications in myelin disease pathogenesis within the mammalian central nervous system. Oct-6 (A-8) monoclonal antibody serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the mechanisms of myelination and Schwann cell biology.
