Gβ Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the G beta protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-G beta antibody (B-11) is available as the non-conjugated form. G beta protein plays a crucial role in the function of heterotrimeric G proteins, which are essential for transmitting signals from various cell surface receptors to intracellular effectors. These receptors detect a wide array of extracellular stimuli, such as hormones and neurotransmitters, while the effectors, including adenyl cyclase, generate intracellular messengers that mediate cellular responses. G protein complex consists of three subunits—alpha, beta, and gamma—each encoded by distinct gene families. β subunits are vital for regulating the activity of G protein alpha subunits and certain signal transduction pathways. Among the five members of the β-subunit family in mammals, Gβ5 stands out due to its unique structure, exhibiting only 50% homology with other β subunits, Gβ1-4, which share at least 83% homology. Gβ5 is predominantly expressed in brain, pancreas, kidney, and heart, highlighting its importance in various physiological processes.
