cSHMT Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cSHMT protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-cSHMT antibody (A-2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. cSHMT protein, or cytosolic serine hydroxymethyltransferase, plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the reversible conversion of serine and tetrahydrofolate to glycine and methylenetetrahydrofolate, primarily in the cytoplasm and mitochondria. This enzymatic activity is vital for the synthesis of nucleotides, particularly thymidylate, which is essential for DNA replication and repair. Additionally, cSHMT is involved in the regulation of one-carbon metabolism, influencing the availability of methylenetetrahydrofolate for S-adenosylmethionine synthesis, a key methyl donor in numerous biological processes. cSHMT′s tetrameric structure is stabilized by specific residues, such as Lys-71, Arg-80, and Asp-89, which are critical for maintaining catalytic function. The human cSHMT gene is located on chromosome 17p11.2, while the mitochondrial variant is found on chromosome 12q13, highlighting the evolutionary conservation and significance of this enzyme across species.
