Cochlioquinone A is the major component of a bioactive pigment isolated from Bipolaris leersia. It has been found to be an antagonist of the human chemokine receptor CCR5 in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). It is anti-angiogenic and exhibits inhibitory activity against diacylglycerol acyltransferase and NADHubiquinone reductase.
