Chr-A Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects chromogranin A (Chr-A) in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Chr-A (E-5) antibody recognizes an acidic glycoprotein predominantly localized within secretory granules of neuroendocrine and endocrine tissues, playing a crucial role in the storage and release of hormones and neuropeptides. Elevated levels of Chr-A are often associated with neuroendocrine tumors, making Chr-A monoclonal antibody (E-5) a valuable tool for diagnosis and monitoring of these malignancies. Chr-A serves as the precursor to several biologically active peptides, including pancreastatin, which regulates insulin and gastric acid secretion, highlighting Chr-A′s importance in metabolic processes. Anti-Chr-A antibody (E-5) effectively identifies Chr-A in various experimental settings, making this antibody an essential tool for researchers studying neuroendocrine function and related pathologies.

I am using Chr-A (E-5): sc-271738 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining

Rated 5 out of 5 by Peter_Jung from Antibody works great for indirect immuneAntibody works great for indirect immune-fluorescence staining on formalin-fixed paraffin embedded sections. Confocal images of high quality and specificity were obtained. We also have very good experience with this antibody in immuno-histochemical analyses.
