A1Up Antibody (M398) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects A1Up in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). A1Up, also known as Ataxin-1 ubiquitin-like-interacting protein or UBQLN4, is a 601 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular processes by localizing to both the cytoplasm and nucleus, where A1Up associates with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). This localization enables A1Up to bind to signal sequences on proteins destined for the ER, facilitating proper sorting and processing. A1Up is expressed at high levels in vital organs such as kidney, pancreas, heart, brain, and skeletal muscle, while maintaining lower levels in liver, lung, and placenta. A1Up functions as a homodimer and links Ataxin-1 with ubiquitin/proteasome pathways, potentially aiding in the formation of multimeric protein complexes within the nucleus. A1Up contains one ubiquitin-like domain and one UBA domain, and undergoes phosphorylation in response to DNA damage, which could influence activity and interactions. With diverse roles in cellular function and involvement in critical pathways, A1Up serves as an important target for research in various biological contexts.
