5-Methoxyflavone (5-MF) is a flavone compound that possesses lipophilic properties, allowing it to dissolve in lipids and fatty acids. While the exact mechanism of action of 5-Methoxyflavone remains partially understood, several pathways have been proposed. Additionally, it has been observed to inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase-2, an enzyme responsible for the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Moreover, 5-Methoxyflavone has been found to impede the activity of 5-lipoxygenase, an enzyme involved in the production of leukotrienesan inflammatory mediator.
