2,3-Dihydrofuran is a cyclic ether used as a solvent in organic synthesis and as a reagent in various chemical reactions. In biochemistry, 2,3-dihydrofuran has a ability to undergo ring-opening reactions. It can also participate in Diels-Alder reactions, which are important in the construction of carbon-carbon bonds. 2,3-dihydrofuran undergoes oxidation to form furandicarboxylic acid, a building block for biodegradable plastics. 2,3-dihydrofuran is a precursor to various agrochemicals.
