QUICK LINKS

Apigenin 7-glucoside is a synthetic antibiotic compound. Its design aims to target bacterial infections effectively without the associated toxicity of conventional antibiotics. In vivo studies have demonstrated its effectiveness against bacterial infections caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In vitro studies have shown its efficacy against Enterobacteriaceae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Although the precise mechanism of action is not fully understood, Apigenin 7-glucoside is believed to inhibit bacterial cell growth by interfering with the synthesis of cell wall components. This interference leads to the death of bacterial cells, making it a potential breakthrough in antibiotic development.
