Copper(II) nitrate trihydrate is a hydrated copper salt. This blue-green crystalline compound plays a catalytic role in the solvent-free creation of 3-aminopropenones and 3-aminopropenoates. When dissolved in water, it produces a dark blue solution. The most important use of copper nitrate is as a precursor to other copper compounds. Additionally, it is used to dissolved organic substances from wastewater and preventing corrosion in iron and steel.
