QUICK LINKS

A precursor of the amino acid L-dopa. (4-Hydroxyphenoxy)acetic acid is used in the design, synthesis and analysis of postulated transient intermediate and substrate analogues as inhibitors of 4-hyroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase. Shown to inhibit the activity of COX-2, which is involved in inflammation. Additionally, it is shown to modulate the expression of certain genes, such as those involved in cell growth and apoptosis.
