Rhapontin is a white to yellowish powder, sparingly soluble in water and soluble in ethanol, methanol, and acetone. A coumarin derivative that may act to have anthelmintic properties. Rhapontin is a growth inhibitor and apoptosis inducer. A stilbene derivative found in Rheum. It has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of DNA polymerase in vitro. It has a UV absorption maximum at 254 nm and a fluorescence maximum at 490 nm.
