Glycocholic acid is a bile acid that is naturally produced in the liver and found in the bile of humans and animals. It plays an important role in the digestion and absorption of dietary fats. Glycocholic acid acts as a surfactant, helping to emulsify fats and facilitate their breakdown by lipases. It is also involved in the solubilization and absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and other nutrients in the small intestine.
