4-Hydroxybenzyl Isothiocyanate is a benzylic isothiocyanate compound produced as a metabolic product of 4-hydroxybenzyl glucosinolate. In studies investigating the metabolism of 4-hydroxybenzyl glucosinolate in Sinapis alba seeds, 4-Hydroxybenzyl Isothiocyanate was identified as the initial metabolic product. This substance may act to effectively impede the growth and proliferation of malignant cells. Additionally, it possesses noteworthy anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve the inhibition of specific enzymes associated with cancer cell growth and inflammation. Furthermore, it has the potential to induce apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells.
