QUICK LINKS

Lupeol is a pentacyclic triterpene that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Murine skin studies report that Lupeol inhibits the cutaneous toxicity induced by benzoyl peroxide. Lupeol may act to regulate NF-kappaB and PI3K/Akt pathways, induce Fas-mediated apoptotic death of androgen-sensitive prostate cancer cells, improve the aflatoxin B1-induced peroxidation hepatic damage, and inhibit the Ras signaling pathway. Additionally, Lupeol may act to prevent the effects of DMBA, which induces DNA alkylation damage in mouse skin.
