QUICK LINKS

Procysteine is a glutathione (GSH) precursor that links GSH synthesis and metabolism. GSH contains numerous important functions including protection against oxidative stress. Similar to GSH, Procysteine has been found to contain anti-oxidative capabilities via restoration of glutathione levels in atrophied muscles. This compound has also been found to stimulate gene expression of insulin-like growth factor-1, cardiotrophin-1, and ciliary neurotrophic factor.
