ZSWIM1, also known as Zinc Finger SWIM-Type Containing 1, is a protein encoded by the ZSWIM1 gene. The SWIM domain (SWI2/SNF2 and MuDR) is a zinc finger-like domain that is thought to mediate protein-protein interactions. These domains are typically found in a variety of proteins that are involved in chromatin remodeling, transcriptional regulation, and ubiquitin conjugation.
ZSWIM1 is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues, indicating that it may have a fundamental role in normal cellular physiology. The zinc finger motifs within the protein are characteristic of DNA binding or protein binding domains, implying that ZSWIM1 could interact with other proteins or with DNA to exert its function.Studies have hinted at possible involvement of ZSWIM1 in developmental processes and diseases. Alterations in the expression levels or mutations within the ZSWIM1 gene might be implicated in developmental disorders or pathologies. However, the evidence is not yet fully conclusive, and more research is needed to understand the full spectrum of ZSWIM1's physiological and pathological roles.
