Spermatogenesis Associated Glutamate (E)-Rich Protein 2, also known as "Spermatogenesis Associated 2" (SPATA2), is a protein that, as its name suggests, is implicated in the process of spermatogenesis – the production and development of sperm cells. The SPATA2 gene encodes this protein, and it is characterized by the presence of glutamate-rich regions, which may suggest a role in protein-protein interactions.SPATA2 is expressed in the testes, specifically localized within the germ cells that give rise to spermatozoa.
