Coiled-coil domain containing 68 (CCDC68) is a protein encoded by the CCDC68 gene in humans. Like other members of the coiled-coil domain-containing family, CCDC68 features a structural motif characterized by two or more alpha-helices wrapped around each other in a supercoil configuration. This motif is known for mediating protein-protein interactions and is often involved in the assembly of various protein complexes that play key roles in a wide array of cellular processes.

Although specific functions of CCDC68 are not extensively characterized, proteins with coiled-coil domains are generally implicated in a variety of biological functions, including but not limited to, vesicle trafficking, cytoskeletal organization, cell motility, and regulation of gene expression. By participating in the formation of protein complexes, CCDC68 may influence these cellular processes. Furthermore, coiled-coil domain-containing proteins are also known to be involved in the regulation of signaling pathways that control cell growth and differentiation.Research into CCDC68 may be ongoing, and its precise roles in cellular physiology may be uncovered through studies investigating its protein interactions and the effects of its overexpression or knockdown in cells. Alterations in the expression or structure of CCDC68 could potentially be linked to certain diseases, as is the case with other coiled-coil domain-containing proteins that have been associated with various pathologies, including cancer and genetic disorders.
