MFF activators are a class of chemical compounds that enhance the functional activity of the MFF protein through their roles in various biochemical pathways. These activators primarily influence the cAMP-PKA signaling pathway, leading to the enhanced function of MFF. Forskolin, Epinephrine, and Isoproterenol are some key examples of MFF activators that increase cAMP levels, thereby activating PKA, which in turn phosphorylates MFF, enhancing its fission activity. IBMX, Rolipram, Papaverine, Theophylline, and Zardaverine function as phosphodiesterase inhibitors, preventing the degradation of cAMP, resulting in its accumulation, and subsequent PKA activation and MFF phosphorylation.
Furthermore, the MFF activators also include compounds that can induce a superactivation state of PKA under high cAMP conditions, as seen with H-89.
