FucT-VII Activators

FucT-VII Activators are specific compounds that enhance the enzymatic function of FucT-VII, a fucosyltransferase involved in the modification of glycoproteins and glycolipids, which are crucial for cell-cell interactions, particularly in the immune system. GDP-L-fucose, as a direct fucosyl donor, is essential for the fucosylation reactions catalyzed by FucT-VII, facilitating the synthesis of sialyl Lewis X antigens that play a critical role in leukocyte extravasation during inflammatory responses. MnCl2 provides Mn2+ ions, which are vital cofactors for the optimal enzymatic activity of FucT-VII in cell adhesion processes. CMP-Neu5Ac serves as a substrate for the synthesis of sialylated glycans, which are subsequently modified by FucT-VII, thus indirectly increasing the protein's activity in leukocyte rolling, an early step in the immune response. ATP is essential for energy transfer during the glycosylation processes in which FucT-VII is involved, particularly the modification of selectins and cell adhesion molecules.

Lastly, Magnesium chloride supplies Mg2+ ions, which serve as cofactors for various glycosyltransferases, including FucT-VII, enhancing its role in the synthesis and function of glycoproteins.
