SO Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects sulfite oxidase in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-sulfite oxidase antibody (A-7) targets sulfite oxidase, a crucial homodimeric enzyme located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, where sulfite oxidase plays a vital role in the oxidative degradation of sulfur amino acids such as cysteine and methionine by catalyzing the conversion of sulfite to sulfate. This enzymatic activity is essential for maintaining sulfur metabolism and preventing the accumulation of toxic sulfite levels, which can lead to severe neurological abnormalities and early mortality in individuals with genetic deficiencies of sulfite oxidase.
