PSMC2 Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PSMC2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PSMC2 (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PSMC2 protein, also known as Proteasome 26S subunit ATPase 2, is a crucial component of the 26S proteasome, a multi-subunit complex responsible for the selective degradation of ubiquitinated proteins, which is vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating various cellular processes. PSMC2, consisting of 433 amino acids, is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, where PSMC2 functions as a chaperone-like subunit of the 19S regulatory complex, facilitating the unfolding and translocation of substrates into the proteolytic core of the proteasome. PSMC2′s role is particularly important in the context of cellular stress responses and the regulation of protein turnover, as PSMC2 ensures that damaged or misfolded proteins are efficiently removed from the cell. Additionally, PSMC2 has been implicated in interactions with several basal transcription factors, suggesting a potential role in transcriptional regulation, particularly in response to viral infections such as HIV-1, where PSMC2 can enhance the transactivation mediated by the viral protein Tat.
