p-AR Antibody (156C135.2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG antibody that detects the p-AR protein of mouse, rat, human, porcine, and canine origin by western blotting (WB). p-AR Antibody (156C135.2) is available as the non-conjugated anti-p-AR antibody, providing researchers with a reliable tool for studying androgen receptor dynamics. The androgen receptor (AR) plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of androgens, which are vital for the development and maintenance of male reproductive physiology and phenotype. Located primarily in the cytoplasm and nucleus of target cells, AR translocates to the nucleus upon binding to testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), where AR regulates gene expression. This translocation is essential for AR function, as AR influences various biological processes, including cell growth and differentiation. Notably, the binding kinetics of T and DHT differ significantly, with testosterone exhibiting a threefold faster association and dissociation rate compared to dihydrotestosterone. This difference in kinetics contributes to the distinct physiological effects observed with each androgen. Furthermore, androgen binding enhances AR stability, increasing AR functional lifespan within the cell. The phosphorylation of AR by Akt at specific serine residues, such as Serines 210 and 790, further modulates AR activity, highlighting the importance of post-translational modifications in regulating receptor function. The synthetic androgen R1881 has also been shown to elevate phosphorylation at Serines 308 and 650 in vitro, underscoring the complex regulatory mechanisms governing AR signaling.
