LIMK-1 Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects LIMK-1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LIMK-1, a member of the LIM kinase family, plays a crucial role in regulating actin cytoskeleton dynamics, which is essential for various cellular processes including cell motility, shape, and morphogenesis. By phosphorylating and inhibiting Cofilin, a key actin-binding protein, LIMK-1 stabilizes F-actin structures, thereby influencing cell movement and growth control. This regulation is particularly important in neuronal differentiation, as LIMK-1 has been shown to inhibit PC12 cell differentiation by interfering with downstream signaling events of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation. Expression patterns of LIMK-1 and LIMK-2 suggest distinct roles during development, with LIMK-1 being more prominent in certain tissues and developmental stages. A truncated form of LIMK-2 has been identified in adult testis, arising from an alternative initiation exon, further highlighting LIM kinases′ complexity and functional diversity in cellular processes.
