Lactoferrin Antibody (1A1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects lactoferrin in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. Anti-lactoferrin antibody (1A1) binds to lactoferrin, which plays a crucial role in iron metabolism by binding to iron and regulating its availability in biological systems, essential for various cellular processes, including immune response and cellular proliferation. Lactoferrin is primarily located in secretory fluids such as milk, tears, and leukocytes, where lactoferrin not only serves as an iron transporter but also exhibits antimicrobial properties, helping to protect against infections. Lactoferrin′s ability to bind iron limits its availability to pathogens, thereby inhibiting their growth. Additionally, lactoferrin has been shown to modulate immune responses, influencing the activation and proliferation of lymphocytes, which is vital for maintaining a balanced immune system. The gene encoding human lactoferrin is located on chromosome 3p21.31, highlighting lactoferrin′s significance in human health and disease. With multifaceted roles in iron regulation and immune modulation, lactoferrin is a key protein for researchers studying iron metabolism and host-pathogen interactions.

I am using lactoferrin (1A1): sc-52048 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunoprecipitation protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoprecipitation-western-blots
