IL-13Rα2 Antibody (2K8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-13R alpha 2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IL-13R alpha 2 antibody (2K8) is available as a non-conjugated format. IL-13R alpha 2 protein plays a crucial role in modulating immune response, particularly in allergic reactions and asthma. As a decoy receptor for Th2 cytokine Interleukin-13 (IL-13), IL-13R alpha 2 binds IL-13 without initiating a signaling cascade, effectively inhibiting pro-inflammatory effects of IL-13. This mechanism helps regulate and limit excessive immune responses that can lead to tissue damage and chronic inflammation. Expression of IL-13R alpha 2 is notably upregulated in response to stimuli such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) or IL-4, which further emphasizes a role in negative feedback regulation of IL-13 signaling. While IL-13Rα1 is predominantly expressed in immune cells like B cells, monocytes, and T cells, IL-13R alpha 2 is most highly expressed in glioma cells, highlighting potential significance in cancer biology and therapeutic targeting.
