Dyskerin Antibody (C-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects dyskerin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Dyskerin plays a crucial role in the biogenesis of ribonucleoprotein complexes, particularly in the modification of uridine to pseudouridine, which is essential for the proper functioning of ribosomal RNA and, consequently, protein synthesis. This modification enhances the stability and functionality of RNA molecules, impacting cellular processes such as translation and ribosome assembly. Dyskerin forms a small ribonucleoprotein particle with other proteins, including Nopp140, GAR1, NHP2, and Nop10, which localize to the dense fibrillar component of the nucleolus and nuclear Cajal bodies, highlighting dyskerin′s importance in nucleolar function and cellular homeostasis. Dyskerin is encoded by a gene located on chromosome Xq28, and mutations in this gene can disrupt normal localization, leading to Dyskeratosis congenita, a rare X-linked disorder characterized by various clinical manifestations, including skin pigmentation abnormalities and bone marrow failure. Anti-dyskerin antibody (C-11) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying ribonucleoprotein complexes and their implications in cellular biology and disease.
