CABC1 Antibody (721G2B) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the CABC1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). CABC1, also known as COQ8 or ADCK3 (aarF domain-containing protein kinase 3), is a 647 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a crucial role in the assembly of protein complexes within the respiratory chain, which is essential for cellular energy production. CABC1 is ubiquitously expressed, with particularly high levels found in heart and skeletal muscle tissues, highlighting its importance in energy-demanding organs. CABC1′s expression is notably induced in response to DNA damage and by the tumor suppressor p53, indicating its potential involvement in cellular stress responses and tumor suppression. When CABC1 expression is inhibited, there is a partial suppression of p53-induced apoptosis, suggesting that CABC1 may act as a critical mediator in the apoptotic pathway. Furthermore, mutations in the gene encoding CABC1 have been linked to ubiquinone deficiency, which can result in severe neurological conditions such as cerebellar ataxia and seizures. Notably, four isoforms of CABC1 exist due to alternative splicing events, which may contribute to its diverse functional roles in cellular metabolism and stress response. Anti-CABC1 antibody (721G2B) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying mitochondrial function, apoptosis, and the molecular mechanisms underlying various diseases.
