该化合物在 3、3'、4 和 4' 位含有四个氘原子。它可作为内标物，通过气相色谱或液相色谱-质谱法定量检测比马前列素（游离酸）。比马前列素（游离酸）是一种代谢稳定的前列腺素 F2α （PGF2α）类似物，是一种强效的 FP 受体激动剂。1 在 CHO 细胞中表达的大鼠重组 FP 受体上，比马前列素（游离酸）抑制 PGF2α 结合的 Ki 值为 1.1 nM。2 比马前列素（游离酸）-d4 的异丙酯在降低猫眼眼压方面的效果略优于 PGF2α 异丙酯，且无任何刺激性。
