ARK-1 Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ARK-1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ARK-1 (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Aurora related kinase-1 (ARK-1), also known as STK15, Aurora2, and Aik1, is a centrosome-associated serine/threonine kinase that plays a crucial role in regulating centrosome separation, bipolar spindle assembly, and chromosome segregation during mitosis. Proper functioning of ARK-1 is vital for accurate cell division, as dysregulation can lead to aneuploidy and cancer. ARK-1 is predominantly localized in the nucleus and associates with distinct components of the mitotic machinery, particularly at the spindle poles during mitosis. ARK-1 protein levels are elevated in various colon carcinoma cell lines, such as HT-29 and SW480, and accumulates during metaphase in HeLa cells, highlighting potential as a biomarker for tumor progression. ARK-1 undergoes degradation after the G2/M phase via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway, which is essential for maintaining proper cell cycle regulation. Expression of ARK-1 is particularly high in the human thymus and fetal liver, indicating importance in developmental processes.
