AQP8 Antibody (14-Z) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AQP8 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AQP8 antibody (14-Z) is available as the non-conjugated form. AQP8, also known as aquaporin 8, is a 261 amino acid integral membrane protein characterized by six membrane-spanning domains and two conserved asparagine-proline-alanine (NPA) motifs, which are essential for water channel function. AQP8 plays a critical role in facilitating water transport across cell membranes, a function vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and regulating osmotic balance in various tissues. AQP8 is particularly important in the kidneys, where AQP8 contributes to water reabsorption, and in the gastrointestinal tract, where AQP8 aids in digestive fluid secretion. AQP8 has been implicated in the transport of other small solutes, which may influence various physiological processes. Three N-linked glycosylation sites on AQP8 suggest that post-translational modifications may play a role in stability and function, potentially affecting protein interactions and overall cellular activity.
