SKIV2L2 Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SKIV2L2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SKIV2L2 (H-9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SKIV2L2 protein, also known as superkiller viralicidic activity 2-like 2, is a 1,042 amino acid member of the helicase family, specifically the SKI2 subfamily, and plays a crucial role in RNA metabolism. SKIV2L2 is primarily located in the nucleus, where SKIV2L2 is involved in the spliceosome C complex and is essential for pre-mRNA splicing. The presence of one helicase ATP-binding domain and one helicase C-terminal domain in SKIV2L2′s structure is vital for function, as these domains facilitate RNA unwinding during the splicing process. Additionally, SKIV2L2 is associated with the RNA exosome complex, contributing to the 3′ processing of the 7S pre-RNA into mature 5.8S rRNA, which is critical for ribosome biogenesis. SKIV2L2 gene is highly conserved across various species, including chimpanzees, dogs, cows, and even model organisms like zebrafish and yeast, mapping to human chromosome 5q11.2. Notably, mutations in the skiv2l2 gene in zebrafish have been linked to defects in cell proliferation, highlighting SKIV2L2′s importance in regulating melanoblast proliferation during early stages of melanocyte regeneration.
