PDGF-B Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody raised against amino acids 136-190 of human PDGF-B, reactive with mouse, rat, and human species, and validated for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Platelet-derived growth factor B (PDGF-B) is a critical growth factor involved in cell proliferation, survival, and migration, particularly within mesenchymal and glial-derived cell populations. PDGF-B functions as one of the two disulfide-bonded polypeptide chains (A and B) that combine to form the PDGF isoforms: PDGF-AA, PDGF-AB, and PDGF-BB. These isoforms interact with two structurally related tyrosine kinase receptors, PDGF-α and PDGF-β, inducing receptor dimerization and activation. While PDGF-A preferentially binds the α receptor, PDGF-B binds to both α and β receptors, enabling broad regulatory effects. PDGF-B plays a significant role in neurodevelopment, acting as a neurotrophic factor that promotes the growth and differentiation of specific cell types in the central nervous system. For instance, PDGF-B receptors are expressed on neurons, suggesting importance in neuronal development and function, while interactions through autocrine and paracrine signaling pathways influence tissue repair and angiogenesis.
