GODZ Antibody (H-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Golgi-specific DHHC zinc finger protein (GODZ) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GODZ, also known as Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC3 or Zinc finger protein 373, is a 327 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in palmitoylation and regulated trafficking of various substrates involved in synaptic function. Located in the Golgi apparatus membrane, GODZ contains a DHHC-type zinc finger essential for palmitoyltransferase activity, which is vital for proper functioning of inhibitory and excitatory synapses. GODZ is responsible for palmitoylation of the gamma subunit 2 of GABA(A) receptors, facilitating normal synaptic GABAergic inhibitory function, and palmitoylates glutamate receptors GRIA1 and GRIA2, which is important for retention in the Golgi. Two isoforms of GODZ, resulting from alternative splicing events, further highlight the complexity and regulatory potential in synaptic signaling. Through interactions with key neurotransmitter receptors, GODZ maintains synaptic balance and plasticity, making GODZ a significant target for research in neurobiology and related fields.
