SEE ALSO...

TGase1 Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects TGase1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-TGase1 antibody (A-5) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, such as agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TGase1 plays a crucial role in forming the cross-linked cell envelope (CE), a vital structure in terminally differentiating mammalian epidermal cells. This 10 to 20 nm thick protein deposit forms on the intracellular surface of the plasma membrane and maintains the integrity and barrier function of the epidermis. The CE is generated through transglutaminases, which catalyze the formation of disulfide bonds and γ-glutamyl-lysine isodipeptide bonds, cross-linking glutamine and lysine residues in substrate proteins. TGase1 influences epidermal differentiation, blood coagulation, and apoptosis through these biochemical processes. Human keratinocyte TGase1 is a membrane-associated protein consisting of 817 amino acids, while human tissue TGase2 is an endothelial cell-specific protein with 687 amino acids, highlighting the diverse roles of transglutaminases in cellular functions and tissue homeostasis.
