TBC1D8 Antibody (SS-18) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects TBC1D8 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TBC1D8, also known as VRP (Vascular Rab-GAP/TBC-containing protein), AD3, or HBLP1, is an 897 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in regulating intracellular transport by acting as a GTPase-activator for Rab proteins, which are essential for vesicle trafficking. TBC1D8 contains one GRAM domain and one Rab-GAP TBC domain, the latter being a highly conserved 200 amino acid motif that is vital for its catalytic activity in promoting GTP hydrolysis. This function is particularly important as TBC1D8 helps maintain the balance of active and inactive Rab proteins, thereby influencing various cellular processes such as endocytosis and exocytosis.
