SPT16 Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SPT16 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SPT16 antibody (A-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SPT16 plays a crucial role in transcription by functioning as part of the FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription) complex, which is essential for transcription of chromatin templates. This complex enables nucleosome disassembly during transcription, allowing RNA polymerase to access DNA. SPT16 interacts specifically with nucleosomes and histone H2A/H2B dimers, promoting nucleosome disassembly, which is a key step in transcription elongation. SPT16 forms a complex with structure-specific recognition protein-1 (SSRP-1), which bends DNA and modulates gene expression. The interaction between SPT16 and SSRP-1 enhances transcriptional activity of serum response factors, influencing various gene regulatory pathways. SPT16 serves as a critical component of transcription machinery and a potential target for studies related to gene expression regulation in various biological contexts.
