SP17 Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects SP17 of mouse and rat origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SP17 (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SP17, also known as sperm protein 17, SPA17, or cancer/testis antigen 22, is a crucial sperm surface peripheral membrane protein predominantly expressed in the testis. SP17 features two heparan binding motifs and a C-terminal calmodulin-binding domain, and exists as a homodimer, localizing to both the head and tail of spermatozoa. SP17 resides in the fibrous sheath of the tail, where SP17 interacts with AKAP 3 through its N-terminus, potentially playing a significant signaling role in a PKA-independent AKAP complex. SP17 is found in the cytoplasm of the sperm head, where SP17 binds with high affinity to the zona pellucida of the oocyte, indicating a vital role in fertilization. SP17 has been identified as a cancer/testis antigen, with expression observed in ovarian cancer and multiple myeloma, suggesting potential as a target for tumor immunotherapy.
