Sodium orthosilicate serves is a chemical compound used as a cross-linking agent within detergent formulations. It is produced by the reaction between sodium carbonate and orthosilicic acid. Sodium orthosilicate reacts with water vapor, resulting in the precipitation of silica gel from the solution. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique is used to study the activation energies involved in this reaction. Moreover, to enhance its effectiveness as a cross-linking agent, growth factor molecules can be incorporated into sodium orthosilicate. It is widely used in diverse industrial processes such as water treatment, detergents, adhesives, and ceramics.
