QUICK LINKS
Silver sulfide is used in the production of copper-silver alloys, serves as an effective catalyst for organic synthesis, and is used in the manufacturing of optical imaging probes. One of its notable properties is its constant pressure coefficient of thermal expansion. Moreover, it exhibits excellent transport properties in both human serum and wastewater treatment processes. Due to its low redox potential, silver sulfide is used as an electron scavenger in wastewater treatment. Additionally, this compound can be used for the detection of specific bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli, through its binding to bacterial DNA under an x-ray diffraction data.
