SAS-6 Antibody (91.390.21) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects SAS-6 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-SAS-6 antibody (91.390.21) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SAS-6 protein, also known as spindle assembly abnormal protein 6 homolog, is a crucial 657 amino acid component of the centrosome, characterized by the presence of a PISA (present in SAS-6) domain. SAS-6 (91.390.21) monoclonal antibody recognizes a protein that plays a vital role in centriole formation, essential for proper cell division and organization of the mitotic spindle. SAS-6 protein is specifically localized asymmetrically next to the centriole during procentriole formation onset, and SAS-6 levels fluctuate throughout the cell cycle, being degraded during mitosis and accumulating again at the end of the G1 phase. SAS-6 degradation is mediated by the anaphase-promoting complex, which targets SAS-6 for destruction via the 26S proteasome, with a KEN box in its C-terminus being critical for this process. Increased SAS-6 levels can lead to multiple procentriole formation adjacent to a single centriole, highlighting SAS-6 importance in centriole duplication and cellular integrity maintenance.
