PTMIOfree, free radical is an imidazoline-based N-oxyl radical compound. PTMIO is described as a primary standard of ESR absorption for ESR spin trapping studies of biological studies. PTMIO has also been employed as a superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimetic in studies investigating preservation of NO levels and prevention of superoxide-catalyzed reduction of cytochrome c under conditions of oxidative stress.
