Polyguanylic acid potassium salt is a target molecule for physicochemical studies of guanosine. Polyguanylic acid exhibits a four-stranded helical conformation and is artificially produced in Thermus thermophilus through the catalytic action of the enzyme polynucleotide phosphorylase, employing guanosine diphosphate (GDP) as a precursor. It serves as useful for investigating the effects of ionizing radiation on the formation and stability of G-quadruplex structures, and acts as a target molecule for physicochemical investigations of guanosine′s electronic excitation (vibrational spectra). Moreover, the potassium salt of polyguanylic acid has been utilized for various purposes, including internalization studies involving surface neuropilin-1 (NRP1) as a ligand, intercalation studies with trisubstituted and disubstituted triazole-linked phenyl derivatives (CL41, CL42, and CL2r50) using voltammetry techniques, and as a synthetic polynucleotide for agarose gel electrophoresis analysis.
