PCDH7 Antibody (2D7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects PCDH7 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PCDH7 antibody (2D7) is available as a non-conjugated format. Protocadherin 7 (PCDH7), also known as BHPCDH or BH-Pcdh, is a 1069 amino acid single-pass membrane protein predominantly expressed in brain and heart, where PCDH7 plays a crucial role in cell-cell recognition and adhesion. PCDH7 contains seven cadherin domains, which are essential for function in mediating cell adhesion, a process vital for maintaining structural integrity of tissues and facilitating communication between cells. PCDH7 exists as three isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in different cellular contexts. The unique adhesion mechanism of protocadherins, including PCDH7, distinguishes them from classic cadherins, and alterations in PCDH7 expression have been implicated in various cancers, highlighting potential as targets for therapeutic intervention.
