PACT Antibody (2830C1a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PACT in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). PACT, or PKR-associated protein X, plays a crucial role in the cellular response to stress by activating the protein kinase PKR, which subsequently leads to the phosphorylation of eIF2α, a key regulator of protein synthesis. This process is vital for controlling cellular translation and promoting apoptosis under unfavorable conditions, such as serum starvation or oxidative stress. Notably, PACT can directly bind to double-stranded RNA, although PKR activation and resulting eIF2α phosphorylation occurs primarily in the absence of dsRNA. The phosphorylation of PACT at Serine 18 is particularly significant, as this modification enhances PKR activation following stress exposure.
