Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionat ist eine phenolische Verbindung, die als Antioxidans in der Abwasserbehandlung verwendet wird. Diese Verbindung löst sich leicht in Methanol auf und reagiert mit Natriumcarbonat, was zur Bildung von Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionat führt. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass es eine hohe chemische Stabilität aufweist und in der Lage ist, die Oxidation von Glycolethern effektiv zu hemmen. Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionat hat auch antioxidative Eigenschaften in Gegenwart von Polyvinylchlorid (PVC) gezeigt. Es wirkt als ein propionatbasierter phenolischer Antioxidans, der als polymerer Stabilisator durch Butylphenolfunktionalitäten verwendet wird.
