OAT1 Antibody (1F2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects OAT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-OAT1 antibody (1F2) is available as a non-conjugated format. OAT1 protein, also known as organic anion transporter 1, plays a crucial role in renal excretion of various endogenous and exogenous organic anions, which is vital for maintaining metabolic homeostasis and detoxifying harmful substances in the body. This 563 amino acid protein is predominantly localized to the basolateral membrane of renal proximal tubules, where OAT1 facilitates transport of organic anions, such as benzylpenicillin and cimetidine, thereby contributing to elimination of potentially toxic compounds from the bloodstream. OAT1 operates as an organic anion exchanger, coupling uptake of one organic anion with efflux of an endogenous dicarboxylic acid, such as α-ketoglutarate, which is essential for maintaining balance of these metabolites in kidneys. Expression of OAT1 is regulated through alternative splicing, resulting in generation of four distinct isoforms, which may have different functional properties and regulatory mechanisms. Anti-OAT1 antibody (1F2) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying physiological and pathological roles of OAT1 in renal function and drug metabolism.

Can sc-293323: OAT1 (1F2) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-293323: OAT1 (1F2) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
