N-Nitrosoatrazine is an Atrazine nitrosation product. Exposure to N-Nitrosoatrazine led to notable increases in chromosome breakage levels. Acting as a nitrosating agent, it exhibits the ability to react with specific molecules, resulting in the formation of nitrosamines. These nitrosamines are highly reactive compounds known to induce cellular and DNA damage, and are associated with potential carcinogenic effects. Furthermore, nitrosamines can disrupt the normal functioning of enzymes and hormones, and have the capacity to impact the immune system.
