N,N-Dimethyl-2-methylene-β-alanine acts as an agonist for certain receptors, such as the α2A-adrenergic receptor, by binding to the receptor and activating it. This activation leads to the release of certain hormones, such as epinephrine, which causes a variety of physiological effects. N,N-Dimethyl-2-methylene-β-alanine also acts as an inhibitor for certain enzymes, such as the enzyme monoamine oxidase, by binding to the enzyme and preventing its activity.
